Historical romance writer Sundin (With Every Letter, 2012) continues her Wings of the Nightingale series with the story of flight nurse Lieutenant Georgiana Georgie Taylor. As she flies alongside soldiers wounded while fighting in WWII, life seems to be going exactly on schedule until her path crosses that of Sergeant John Hutchinson, a pharmacist, and her eyes are opened to who she could become. As Georgie realizes her strength by seeing herself through John's eyes, John must learn that his bitterness is gradually taking away the things he loves in his life. Sundin leaves no emotion unexamined in this mix of loss and hope. The author's experience as a hospital pharmacist gives her story line credibility as it is matched by her extensive knowledge of WWII.
