Tyler (Her Perfect Mate) upgrades the always-popular alpha werewolf to an alpha werewolf SWAT team leader in this contemporary romantic thriller with a paranormal twist. Gage Dixon was improbably permitted to fill the Dallas SWAT roster with handpicked pals who happen to be members of his werewolf “pack of alphas” (how that works is never really made clear). Journalist Mackenzie Stone has a sneaking suspicion that something isn’t right with the group of squeaky-clean men, but her quest for the story of a lifetime is put on hold when she and the team have to face down a criminal overlord. Filled with action-packed passion, the fun, uncomplicated story is easy to get lost in. Fans of complex werewolf mythology won’t find it here—the fellows only wolf out when it’s convenient, without a bad hair day or lunar calendar to be seen—but the well-developed characters and unusual premise provide enough material for what promises to be a long-running series.
